Welcome to FloatCue (“the App”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of FloatCue, a teleprompter application developed and operated by our company (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using FloatCue, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. These Terms apply to all users of the App, including both free and premium subscribers.
2. Description of Service
FloatCue is a teleprompter application designed to assist users in displaying scrolling text during video recording and presentations. The App offers both free and premium subscription features, including:
- Free Version Features:
- Basic teleprompter functionality
- Text scrolling with customizable speed
- Premium Subscription Features:
- 7-day free trial period
- Unlimited access to all premium features
- Ad-free experience
- Cloud synchronization (when available)
- Priority customer support
- Regular feature updates
- Remote Controller Feature:
- Control teleprompter from another device on the same WiFi network
- QR code-based device pairing
- Button controls (play/pause/stop/speed adjustment) – Available to all users
- Joystick control (drag to scroll) – Requires premium subscription or active trial
3. User Accounts and Subscriptions
3.1 Free Trial
New premium subscribers are eligible for a 7-day free trial. During the trial period, you will have full access to all premium features at no charge. The trial will automatically convert to a paid subscription unless canceled at least 24 hours before the trial period ends.
3.2 Subscription Plans
We offer the following subscription plans:
- Monthly subscription
- Semi-annual subscription (6 months)
- Yearly subscription
All subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period.
3.3 Payment and Billing
- Subscriptions are processed through Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
- Payment will be charged to your App Store or Google Play account upon confirmation of purchase
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
- You may manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal through your device’s account settings
3.4 Refunds and Cancellations
- Refund policies are governed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store terms and conditions
- You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device’s subscription management settings
- Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period
- No refunds will be provided for partial subscription periods
3.5 Restore Purchases
Users who have previously purchased a subscription can restore their purchases on new or additional devices by using the “Restore Purchase” feature in the App’s settings.
4. Acceptable Use
4.1 License Grant
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App for your personal, non-commercial use.
4.2 Prohibited Conduct
You agree NOT to:
- Use the App for any illegal, harmful, or unauthorized purpose
- Modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App’s systems or networks
- Use the App to harass, abuse, or harm others
- Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or malicious code
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Resell, rent, lease, or distribute the App or any portion thereof
- Use automated systems (bots, scripts) to access the App
5. Intellectual Property Rights
5.1 Ownership
The App, including all content, features, functionality, software code, designs, graphics, text, and other materials, is owned by us and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
5.2 User Content
You retain all rights to any text, drafts, or other content you create using the App (“User Content”). By using the App, you grant us a limited license to store and process your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the App’s functionality.
5.3 Feedback
If you provide us with any feedback, suggestions, or ideas regarding the App, you grant us an unrestricted, perpetual, royalty-free right to use such feedback for any purpose without compensation or attribution.
6. Privacy and Data Collection
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using the App, you consent to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Remote Controller Feature Terms
7.1 Feature Description
The Remote Controller feature allows you to control FloatCue’s teleprompter from a separate device connected to the same WiFi network. This feature facilitates remote operation during video recording and presentations.
7.2 Technical Requirements
To use the Remote Controller feature, you must:
- Have two devices (one as Teleprompter, one as Remote Controller) with FloatCue installed
- Connect both devices to the same WiFi network
- Grant camera permission (for QR code scanning on the Remote Controller device)
- Grant local network permission (for device communication)
- Grant location permission (required by iOS/Android to access WiFi network name)
- Ensure your WiFi network allows local device communication (some public/corporate networks may block this)
Important: The Remote Controller feature requires a WiFi connection. Cellular data connections are not supported.
7.3 Connection and Pairing
- QR Code Pairing: The Teleprompter device displays a QR code containing connection information. The Remote Controller device scans this code to establish a connection.
- Local Network Only: All communication occurs within your local WiFi network. No internet connection is required or used.
- Connection Duration: The connection remains active until you disconnect manually, or quit the app.
7.4 Premium Features – Joystick Control
- Free Users: Can use button controls (play/pause/stop/speed adjustment buttons)
- Premium/Trial Users: Can use both button controls and joystick control (drag to scroll the teleprompter)
- Subscription Requirement: Joystick control requires an active premium subscription or valid trial period
- Feature Access: If your subscription or trial expires, you will lose access to joystick control but retain button control functionality
7.5 User Responsibilities
When using the Remote Controller feature, you are responsible for:
- Network Security: Using secure, trusted WiFi networks. We recommend using your home or office network rather than public WiFi.
- QR Code Protection: Protecting QR codes from unauthorized access. Do not share screenshots of QR codes with untrusted parties.
- Permission Management: Granting and managing device permissions appropriately.
- Authorized Use: Ensuring that only authorized devices connect to your teleprompter.
- Content Security: If working with confidential or sensitive scripts, avoid using public or unsecured WiFi networks.
7.6 Limitations and Disclaimers
- Network Dependency: The Remote Controller feature’s performance depends on WiFi network quality and stability. We are not responsible for connection issues caused by poor network conditions.
- Network Compatibility: Some WiFi networks (particularly public, corporate, or guest networks) may block local device communication. We cannot guarantee compatibility with all networks.
- Connection Interruptions: Connections may be interrupted by network changes, signal interference, or device sleep mode. You are responsible for monitoring connection status.
- No Internet Communication: The feature does not require or use internet connectivity. All data stays within your local network.
- No Warranty of Uninterrupted Service: We do not guarantee that the Remote Controller feature will be available, reliable, or error-free at all times.
7.7 Security Considerations
- Unencrypted Communication: The Remote Controller uses standard HTTP protocol (unencrypted) for local network communication. This is acceptable for trusted networks but may pose risks on compromised or public WiFi networks.
- No Authentication Beyond QR Code: Once a device scans the QR code, it can control the teleprompter. We recommend closing the QR code dialog when not actively pairing new devices.
- User Responsibility for Network Security: You are responsible for ensuring the security of your WiFi network. We are not liable for any data interception or unauthorized access that occurs on unsecured networks.
7.8 Data Transmission
- What is Transmitted: Only control commands (play/pause/stop/speed/scroll) and connection handshake data are transmitted between devices.
- What is NOT Transmitted: Your teleprompter text content, personal information, and device identifiers are never transmitted over the network.
- Local Only: All transmissions occur within your local WiFi network. No data is sent to our servers or any external parties.
7.9 Prohibited Uses
You agree NOT to use the Remote Controller feature to:
- Access or control devices without authorization
- Intercept or monitor network traffic
- Compromise network security or integrity
- Harass, abuse, or harm others
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
7.10 Modifications and Discontinuation
We reserve the right to:
- Modify the Remote Controller feature functionality at any time
- Change which features require premium subscription
- Discontinue the Remote Controller feature with reasonable notice to users
- Update security protocols or technical requirements
7.11 No Liability for Third-Party Networks
We are not responsible for:
- WiFi network availability, performance, or security
- Data interception or unauthorized access on unsecured networks
- Network policies that block local device communication
- Any damages arising from use of the Remote Controller feature on third-party networks
8. Third-Party Services
The App may integrate with third-party services, including:
- Apple App Store and Google Play Store for payments
- Cloud storage providers (for premium features)
- Analytics services
Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms and conditions. We are not responsible for the practices or policies of third-party services.
9. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability
9.1 “AS IS” Basis
THE APP IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
9.2 No Guarantee of Availability
We do not guarantee that the App will be:
- Available at all times or uninterrupted
- Free from errors, bugs, or security vulnerabilities
- Compatible with all devices or operating systems
- Meeting all user requirements or expectations
9.3 Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL DAMAGES EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY.
9.4 User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for:
- Your use of the App and any content you create
- Ensuring your device and data are backed up
- Any consequences arising from your use of the App
- Complying with all applicable laws and regulations
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless us and our officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights

11. Modifications to the App and Terms
11.1 App Modifications
We reserve the right to:
- Modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any features at any time
- Change subscription pricing with advance notice to existing subscribers
- Add or remove features from free or premium tiers

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:

- Notify you through the App or via email (if provided)

12. Termination
12.1 Termination by You
You may stop using the App and cancel your subscription at any time through your device’s subscription management settings.
12.2 Termination by Us
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App immediately, without prior notice, if:
- You violate these Terms
- You engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
- Your use poses a security risk or harms other users
- Required by law or legal process
12.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your license to use the App will immediately cease
- You must stop using the App and delete it from your devices
- Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect (including intellectual property rights, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification)
13. Dispute Resolution

17. Export Control
You agree to comply with all applicable export and import laws and regulations. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any government prohibited or restricted party list.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
19. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
20. No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.
21. Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights hereunder without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
